Cenzy Olivia Thornton Obituary (2015 - 2026)

With a spirit as vibrant as a field of wildflowers and a heart as vast as the night sky, Cenzy Olivia Thornton was a radiant beacon of courage and resilience. Born in Lewes, DE on November 10, 2015, and residing in Lincoln, Delaware, Cenzy was a shining example of determination and sheer zest for life. In her short but meaningful life, she embraced every moment with a contagious sense of adventure and an unwavering love for her family, friends, and her precious dogs, Hope and Loki. Cenzy was an explorer at heart, her adventurous spirit unhindered by her medical equipment. She reveled in the simple pleasures of life. Cenzy enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. She enjoyed time floating up the river and on the bay in her family’s boat. Riding in the Jeep with the top off and the wind blowing her hair. She enjoyed helping plant flowers in her garden every spring and watching the birds out of her window. Cenzy also accumulated a massive stuffed animal collection over the years. Cenzy loved having her sister Bianka help her with her hair and paint her nails. The two of them would do stretches together and snuggle in bed at times. Cenzy was always ready to hear about Bianka’s big races and see her medals. Cenzy would always sneak ice cream and snacks from Bianka even when she wasn’t supposed to. Cenzy could always count on her big sister Abygail to watch out for her. They liked baking treats during the holidays and letting Cenzy get small tastes of the batter. Abygail was always there to carry her around til she got bigger. Cenzy liked to watch Disney in her bed with her niece Jaslene. At night she would watch her aquarium on TV to fall asleep. She was always down for an occasional extended visit at what we referred to as her time share Hotel DuPont(Nemours Hospital). In recognition of her resilience and fighting spirit, Cenzy was honored as an Honorary Firefighter/EMT of Ellendale Fire CO, an achievement that mirrored her courageous spirit. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she is survived by her father Kristopher Thornton, mother Kristen Hopkins-Thornton, sisters Abygail (Isiah) Seacord, Bianka Thornton, grandfather Harrison Hopkins, grandmother Winnie Hopkins, brother-in-law Isiah (Abygail) Brittingham, grandfather George Thornton, Aunt Stacie Whitley, Uncle Keith Hopkins and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Judith Thornton. Cenzy's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and the human spirit. Inurnment will be private for family at the Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro DE the next day.
