Alvera Stewart

Alvera Elizabeth Wright Stewart born January 18, 1939 to Mamie Hutt Waters and Charles Henry Wright, Sr. After the death of her father Charles, She was blessed to be raised by Leonard Waters, Sr. From Fruitland, MD. She Departed this life on March 28, 2023 at Genisses Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by family. She was the fifth of eight children. 

Alvera was known to be a doting wife and loving mother during her early years of marriage.  Alvera later gained employment at  Howard Johnson Family Hotel and Purity a bacon processing company. After sustaining a work place injury, Alvera was no longer able to maintain employment resulting in becoming medically disabled.

On October 25, 1957, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ralph Maurice Stewart.  From this union there were four children: Phyllis Audrey Wright, Ralph Maurice Stewart, Jr., Cheryl Lynn Stewart, & Jeffrey Marcellous Stewart Sr. Ralph and Alvera were married sixty-four years. 

Mother Alvera as she was affectionately known, was a lifelong member of The Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church in Fruitland, MD .From the oldest to the youngest member, Mother Stewart always took the time to lend an ear to anyone seeking advice or spiritual guidance. She would often do it with a side of humor from time to time. One of her favorite songs to sing was At the Cross.

She is survived one daughter, Elder Cheryl Lynn Stewart; one son Jeffery Marcellus Stewart (Amie) both of Salisbury, MD; six grandchildren, Tyree Stewart; James Trower Jr.; Jeffery Stewart Jr.; Shawn Tull Sr.; Latoya Stewart; and Jonta’ Trower; 13 great grandchildren Tyrone Morton; Devon Trower; Dejore Bridell; Aliyah Bridell; Shawn Tull Jr.; Michael Tull; Layah Tull; Matthew Stewart; Brianna Bridell; Christian Stewart; Amira Tull; Aaron Jacob Tull; and Mila Lanier;  one great great grand Arianna Bridelle; one sister, Pastor Ernestine Jones; one brother, Leonard Waters Jr. all of Salisbury, MD. One brother- in-law, George Gale of Wilmington, DE; sister in-laws, Betty A. Stewart of Delmar, MD;  two special cousins, Lynette Berry of Lanham, MD;  Annette Hutt of Salisbury, MD; a bonus daughter, Nadine Stewart, bonus grandson, David Logan and her personal care giver Claretta Major There are a whole a host of nephews, nieces, other cousins and friends.

Besides her parents Alvera was proceeded in death by her husband, Elder Ralph Maurice Stewart Sr.; daughter, Phyllis Wright; son, Ralph Stewart Jr.; one grandson, Kevin Tull Jr.; sisters Thirkill Fountain; Shirley Cannon; Sarah Jane Christopher; two brothers, Charles Henry Wright, Jr. and Binky Wright; two sister in-laws, Anita McCoullugh;  Carolyn Gal; and one
brother in-law James C. Stewart.
