Brian Kenneth Gillis was born in Rapid City, SouthDakota on January 15, 1968. At the early age of three months, Brian’s parents decided to move to West Virginia. Brian resided in West Virginia until 2002 before deciding to join his mother and stepfather in Germany. Brian lived in Germany until 2010 before deciding to move back to West Virginia. Between the years of 2010 and 2016 Brian moved back and forth between West Virginia and Pennsylvania to raise his sons, sons that described him as an amazing father and amazing friend.
In 2016, Brian decided to settle in Delaware to be with his mother and stepfather. During his stay in Delaware, Brian worked several jobs, beginning with being a bartender at Dover Air Force Base before moving on to being a Manager at Vape Nook in Dover, Delaware where he met his partner, Kimberly. Kimberly has two sons (15- and 5-year-old) and Brian had a very positive influence on them.
Brian displayed strong communication skills, was viewed by many as a people person where many were drawn to him because of his friendly personality and caring demeanor. Brian was kind, considerate and willing to help if someone needed him. Brian was extremely smart and multi-talented as he worked on computers and technical gadgets. He also loved playing his guitar and singing and could have been a professional at that too. There wasn’t anything that Brian couldn’t do.
Brian was the youngest of the two children born to Marianne Bennett. Brian is predeceased by his biological father Richard K. Gillis and survived by his mother Marianne Bennett and stepfather Rory Bennett, three sons Justin Metheny, Brian Metheny and Arian Williams; two granddaughters Madelynn Metheny and Aurora Gillis; brother Patrick Chilcote; two aunts Eveline Hochheimer (Joachim), Monika Barwinske; a nephew, nieces, cousins, and his partner Kimberly and her two sons Joseph and Phoenix. He will be sorely missed by all of them as well as special friends Nick Rettig, Brent Stock, Kevin Trently and many more friends, both here and overseas in Germany.
There is such great comfort in knowing that we are not alone at this time. Your words, your love and your support has comforted and strengthened us. We extend our deepest thanks to you for your kindness during our sorrow. We truly appreciate it, more than words could ever express and it will always be remembered.
