Doris Blocksom Jenkins, 84
Doris Blocksom Jenkins passed away at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. on February 18, 2022. Born January 18, 1938, she was the sixth of thirteen children of the late Frederick and Viola Blocksom of Seaford, Del.
She began her education at Frederick Douglass School, later graduating from William C. Jason HS and Delaware State College (now Delaware State University). She retired from the Lake Forest School District after 30 years of teaching. She returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher in the Caroline County (Md), Woodbridge and Seaford Districts.
Doris was a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of God for 54 years.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters, and one foster daughter.
Doris is survived by her husband of 46 yrs., William; a brother, Halvin (Pauline) Blocksom; four sisters: JoAnne Gibson, Mary (Harry Nelson) Burton, Gail (Tim) Weal, and Joyce Bowers; Foster Family: Octavia, Aaron, and Tynetta Cannon; Sonya, Tymira, and Shaquea Jones; and Jamie Long.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Lifeway Church of God in Bridgeville, Del. with a viewing two hours prior to the services.
