Earlene Elizabeth Woods-Arroyo, 68 of Milford, Delaware passed on March 24, 2023. Earlene was born on June 22, 1954 to the late Mildred Bell and the late Earl Woods. Earlene was raised by the late Vance Swift. She spent her early years in Milford, Delaware and attended junior high school in the Bronx, New York. She made her way back to Delaware where she attended Milford High School. Eventually, she settled and spent most of her life in Kent County.
Earlene, affectionately known as “Ms. E”, “Mommy”, “Aunty” and “Lene”, had a love for people especially children. She was known as the neighborhood mother everywhere she lived. On any given day, you could find her home filled with children and anyone who needed love or a place to stay. She would give them her last, her door was always open, and their bellies were full. She loved cooking, her special dishes were flour bread, collard greens, potato salad, cabbage and fried chicken. She also enjoyed coloring and drawing. She expressed her creativity in many ways, especially giving everyone a nickname. Earlene had a kind heart and accepted everyone. Once she got to know them, they were family. For years she lived next to the Brown family in Ellendale and the Campbell family in Milford. They have a lifetime of history and fond memories. She loved her children and grandchildren, and was especially excited when she finally had granddaughters. Earlene will be sorely missed.
Earlene was preceded in death by her youngest son David Woods, mother Mildred Bell, father Earl Woods, stepfather Vance Swift, sister Dorothy Givens, and brother Eugene Allen Jr. She is survived by sons James Woods (Michelle) of Exton, PA, Antonio Woods (Lakeesha) of Greenwood, DE, Earl Woods (K’Keenya) of Ellendale, DE, Eric Jenkins (Domonique) of King of Prussia, PA, and a daughter Kiara Jenkins of Baltimore, MD. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and children that she endeared as her own.
