Edward Amerman, Sr.,70, of Seaford DE, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Ed was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in National Park, NJ.
As a young man Ed moved back to Philly, started his family and was a plumber at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia for many years. In the early eighties he moved his family to the Oak Valley section of Deptford, NJ. It was at that time, he began a long career at Riverfront State Prison in Camden, NJ as a boiler operator.
Ed enjoyed crabbing, backyard BBQ’s and camping. He was the ultimate mister fix-it; Ed did not “call a guy” because he was the guy! There was never a repair around the house he would not tackle. He had a passion for vegetable gardening, and it gave him much happiness to brag on how well his efforts succeeded. Let us not forget his love for the Eagles, an avid fan through and through. He could not have been prouder when they won Super Bowl LII.
To say Ed had an amazing work ethic is an understatement. Anyone who knew Ed can contest that through snow, sleet, rain or shine you could always count on him. At times in his life, he held multiple jobs at once and was a wonderful provider for his family. Ed was a man of much knowledge. One of his many accomplishments was becoming an ammonia refrigeration mechanic after moving to Seaford, Delaware twenty-six years ago. He was employed by Allen in Hurlock, MD for several years and then retired from Mountaire in Millsboro, DE in 2021. We all know the phrase, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” Well, that was not the case with Ed. He mastered everything he did and was a great mentor to many.
Survived by his children Edward (Jacquelyn) Amerman, Jr. of Wenonah NJ, Steven (Amy) Amerman of Federalsburg MD, Cynthia Amerman of Seaford DE; his grandchildren Zoe, Matthew, Brandon, Devin, Ali; four great grandchildren; his brothers Kenneth (Maggie) Amerman and Frank Amerman; his former wife Cheryl Amerman, and many nieces and nephews. He will also be FUR-ever missed by his two little monsters Kitty and Friskie.
He was predeceased by his father Frank Amerman and step-mother Rubye Amerman; his mother Madeline Amerman (nee Tange) and her companion George; his brother Raymond Amerman and his sister Madeline Amerman.
