Eldora Ann Frisby affectionately known as Dodie was called to rest on January 11, 2024, at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Eldora was born on August 9, 1956, in Seaford, Delaware. She was the daughter of Catherine Anna Felton and Robert Miller.
As a child Dodie attended grade school. She would later attend Woodridge High School where she excelled in academics, basketball, softball, and field hockey. She then went on to attend Delaware State University where she excelled at basketball and was a lead singer in the DelState gospel choir. While at DelState she meet some lifelong sisters whom she adored with all her heart.
Dodie worked various jobs throughout her life, which included Dupont in Seaford, DE, Community Action in Georgetown, DE Delagra in Bridgeville, DE and Nanticoke Homes in Greenwood, DE before retiring due to health issues. She then spent the rest of her days doing what she loved most, crabbing and being outdoors with her flowers surrounded by family, friends, and her boys.
Dodie was known for her bubbly personality but also for her no-nonsense attitude. There was nothing she couldn't do, and this was even more true after the loss of one of her legs. If anything, it made her that much more determined to continue to do the things she loved. Nothing was going to stop her from crabbing. Didn't matter if she caught a bushel or one crab (and we had those days) she just loved being in the water and the peacefulness of it all. When she wasn't crabbing you could always find her outside working on her flowers and plants because she had one goal and that was to prove to her mother that you could grow flowers in this Coverdale dirt, and she did just that every summer. Dodie also loved to cook, anyone who had a chance to enjoy her cooking was in for a treat. Anyone who had her fried ribs, or her special turkey wings, or famous cornbread know just what I’m talking about.
Dodie will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, auntie, and friend. She had a personality that lit up any room she entered, heart that was too big for the world we lived in, and a spirit that will be engraved in the harts of all those that she has touched throughout her lifetime. Throughout all her health problems she never lost her faith in GOD. She was a blessing to all her family and friends and will be truly missed.
