Isaac William Downing affectionately called “Ikie” was born to Hattie Downing and Isaac Upshur on February 13, 1972. Isaac departed this life on February 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Isaac attended school in the Cape Henlopen School District. He was a member of the Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ellendale, DE. Where he also would pick up church members and let you know that this was his job driving the church van.
Isaac was a hard working individual. As young man, he would cut grass. When he was old enough to be employed, he began working at Allen’s Foods. He also worked at several local restaurants as a cook. His last job was at the Duck In Car Wash until his legs began to bother him. He often said he wished he could work because he didn’t like sitting around.
Isaac married the love of his life Annette Rickards, from this union two daughters were born. He loved spending time with his daughters and his brothers and sister whom he loved unconditionally. He would tell you quickly “don’t lie to his daughters” and “if you give one something you give both.”
