James Johnson Obituary

James Henry Johnson, Sr. was born August 15, 1936, in Seaford, DE to the late Robert H. Johnson, Sr and Lola Mae Johnson. He departed this life December 29, 2023, in the presence of family.

James was educated in the Seaford School District. He was a hard worker and always did all he could to help others. James' desire to help other people led to occupations, over the years that allowed him to do just that. As an entrepreneur, he was a landscaper, farmer, and lumberjack, to name a few. His kindness, and desire to help made him never meet a stranger.

James loved his family. He loved spending time with loved ones. One of his favorite things to watch was wrestling. He was an example to his children on how to love one another, how to support one another, and how to cherish family. He was a hardworking father, husband, brother and friend.

James Henry Johnson, Sr. was a man of God. His heart to serve and help was exemplified often to neighbors, friends, family and church family. As a family man, he cared for all of his children. So much so, it was important to James, his children knew God. James attended the following churches throughout his life, First Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Rev. Hilton Palmer, Refuge Temple, serving under Pastor Leon Williams and Tabernacle Prayer #2, serving under Apostle Elijah Drummond Ill. He served the ministry in the following capacities as Deacon, Elder, Giver, and Co-Pastor. He was simply a "Helper of God" and that was the title he promoted. He loved church, God's people and fellowship with the saints. He would often quote, Psalm 84:11 "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." Followed by won't He do it, take the limits off of God." From Psalm 101:7-8, "He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house; He that tellers lies shall not tarry in my sight.
