Jennie Hitchens Obituary

Jennie A. Harmon Hitches affectionately, known as "Tinky" was born on December 2, 1939, to Christine Miller and Isaac Harmon in Long Neck, Delaware. Jennie peacefully transitioned from this life on January 3, 2024.

For many years, Jennie worked at Admiral hotel as a manager.

Jennie was always a happy person. Who enjoyed being outdoors where she would plant a variety of flowers along with any vegetables she could in her garden. No matter what season it was Jennie genuinely loved nature and all it had to offer. Jennie enjoyed talking to her great niece Ariyah Curtis on the phone every night. She had special bond with her family and friends. Jennie also had with three special cats Ace, Pookie, and Dennis whom she loved dearly.

On June 14, 2002, Jennie was united in holy matrimony to Clarence Monroe Hitches. The two were blessed to be wed for 16 years prior to Clarence's passing in 2019.

Jennie also attended the Millsboro Campus New Dimension Family Ministries.

As Jennie health declined, she was fortunate to be cared for by her loving nephew Hildred Stevenson and his daughter Tina Johnson who made sure all of her needs were taken care of.

Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Hitchens; parents, Christine Miller and Isaac Harmon; five brothers, Isaac Harmon Jr., Ernest Harmon, Leon Harmon Sr., Robert Harmon, and Julian Harmon; four sisters, Mary Nelson, Delilah Polk, Bessie Harmon, and Blanche Miller. Jennie leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, in laws, cousins and friends.
