Johnell Williams affectionately known as Nelly departed this life September 15, 2023. Nelly was born to her mother, Michelle Brooks and her father, John Williams.
She was raised to be a strong lady. Nelly attended the Wilmington Public School System also aspired to become an electrician; until she found out she had to wear them heavy boots. She pressed on any way, and graduated from jobcorps. Nelly had a very big heart, especially to her immediate family. She came from a tight knit family that had purpose in life.
Nelly loved family functions, get togethers, and taking care of her nieces. She had them so much you would have thought she was their mother. Nelly loved to look good and was a trend setter, doing her own hair, and wanting better for herself. We all know Nelly could do some hair; even at a young age she had clientele. She loved money and was a natural at it too. Nelly had a big heart as long as you understood she didn't play about her brothers, mom, dogs yatta and sasha, her step dad Anthony Price, her beloved grandmom who she idolized, and her nieces whom she treated like they were her own. She didnt have any favorites.
Even at a young age she was a go getter like her mom. She taught her ownself how to drive. One time she drove her uncle Curtis's car from the house while we all were partying and ended up on east side lol. (insider) Nelly in short time got her license and then you couldn't tell her nothing. She had a heavy foot too, our little race car driver. When you got in her car you better put your seatbelt on immediately. Nelly was fast but safe driver.
Nelly loved good food, that girl could eat too. With her small frame built we all wondered where the food went. She was very smart and often thought of ways to better her life and family. Nelly loved to laugh, hang out with her friends, go shopping. She made sure she looked good along with her mom and nieces. Nelly was never ever broke she always had money for a rainy day. She was taught well by her mom- mom. Nelly in her younger years (7yrs old) also was loan shark lol if you borrowed 20, you now owed her 40. Nelly had various jobs such as Burger King, Mcdonald's, Security, and Home Health Aid.
Nelly leaves her precious memories to be cherished by her mom, Michelle Brooks; dad, John Williams, step dad, Anthony Price (who raised Nelly since she was 5yrs old); three brothers, James JJ Brooks; Robert Brooks; Tyree Banner; one sister, Keota; four uncles, James Paul; Yesha Abraham; Matthew Hinson aka Truth; and her adopted uncle, Darrel Price; three aunts, Debra Reed; Cynthia Price; Sherry Price; a older cousin, Nathiel Rollins (who called her his adopted daughter); cousins, Kameeka Davis; Shay Davis, a big sister, Kathleen Campbell "Kat"; a very special cousin, Phyllis Burley; her precious nieces, Daemeioyoxni; Michelle'lay; Phyllaris; Sofia Brooks "Fefe"; favorite cousins, James Paul Jr; Dashawn Romeo aka Day Milli; Jaheim Richardson; close friend, Raisha Flowers "Ra ra".
Nelly is preceded in death by her maternal beloved grandmom, Ester Mae Pauls; paternal grandmom, Geraldine Robinson; grandfather, Kenneth Brooks; aunt, Delores Brooks, god mother, Joanne Wilmore; cousin, William Pauls aka "Dookie" (Nelly was known as his birthday present); her beloved dog Yotta Sinclair Brooks.
