Kevin Miller Obituary

Kevin Miller, 67, our dear husband, father, grandfather, nephew, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, transitioned from this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Seaford, DE.

Kevin was born February 28, 1956 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and attended public schools there until he moved to New York City where he graduated Dewitt Clinton High School in 1974. Kevin was devoted to a life of service to others in the community. He enlisted in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He joined the New York City Transit Police in 1981 where he was a patrol officer, a union delegate, and a station command officer before retirement in 2006, serving twenty-five years.

Kevin met his love Penny on a blind date in 1983, set up by his colleague, Penny’s “sisterfriend” Carol. After years of pursuit, Kevin and Penny began dating in 1991 and married in 2001. They spent many devoted years of love and adventure, traveling the world together. They returned home from their most recent adventure on Thursday February 8, 2024 where they had a fantastic time traveling to Aruba and Curacao on their annual Smooth Jazz cruise.

Kevin’s interests included his family and friends, rooting for the Jets and Yankees, bowling, watching sports, listening to Jazz and Blues music, and keeping up with current events. He was a wonderful man who was always there when we needed him. He had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community here in Delaware where he retired, in New York City where he spent most of his adult life, and his hometown of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Kevin’s spirit went forward surrounded by love and those who love and miss him dearly will continue to honor his legacy by living life to the fullest.

Kevin is survived by his wife Priscilla aka Penny Miller, daughter Viola (Vi) Miller, grandchildren Nelson (his NED) Davies and Vanessa Davies; sister Michelle Smith (Al) of Marlton, NJ; Uncle Michael Rhodes (Kim) of Mays Landing, NJ; Aunt Joyce White of Pleasantville, NJ; and A host of loving relatives including six nieces, two nephews; six grand nieces; four grand nephews; four great-grand nieces; two great-grand nephews; and his good boy Tank Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Marilyn Miller, Aunts Phyllis Terrell and Cora Jackson; and Uncle Edgar III “Buddy” Rhodes.
