Melvin Purnell Biles, 47, the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Biles Sturdivant, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 24, 1974. Melvin transitioned from this life on October 10, 2021, in his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
Melvin earned his high school diploma from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware, in 1993. He attended two years of college at Delaware State University under the major of criminal justice. Throughout Melvin's work history, he worked in behavioral healthcare and community service in different capacities.
In youth and adulthood, Melvin was an avid lover of playing and watching basketball and football. Melvin was a Dallas Cowboys football fan. He had no problem sharing with anyone at any time his commitment to the Cowboys team.
Melvin was a "straight shooter," funny, caring, and could carry a conversation with anyone. Melvin was a wonderful, loving, supportive, active, and dedicated father to his two sons Shannon and Skyy Biles. He also was a loving uncle to his nephews Boyce and Bryce Biles.
Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Biles Sturdivant, and brother Lando Biles.
Melvin is survived by his partner of twenty-eight years and the mother of his son's Carprice Judd of Wilmington, Delaware, and his son's Shannon Biles and Skyy Biles of Wilmington, Delaware. Nephews Boyce Biles Jr. and Bryce Biles of Lewes, Delaware. Two aunts Doris C. Biles of Ellendale, Delaware, Lessie M. Rasheed of Milton, Delaware, and uncle Sandy Biles (Rosa) of Augusta, Georgia. In addition to a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM with a viewing one hour prior at Friendship Baptist Church in Lewes, DE.
